Our Story

Today UareUK is a thriving community of people from all over the world, based in Wrexham, which is made up of Our Refugee Hub for Sanctuary Seekers and then our wider community projects

The Peace Kitchen , Gardd Heddwch (Our Community Garden) and our Bits n Peaces preloved sales. You can learn much more about these wonderful moving parts of UareUK on our website and in our book ‘UareUK – 10 years in the making’.

  • Delivering sessions for asylum seekers and refugees to find their feet and access what they need to settle and progress, with a focus on making children feel safe and welcome
  • Ensure that the wider community has access to food and social connection, using the skills and experience of refugees and asylum seekers
  • Creating mutual understanding, shared experiences, opportunities, events and employment through food, environmental, art, sport and music projects
  • Create a cohesive, collective community of care – a place where everyone can find their place and purpose

UareUK began in 2015 as a spontaneous grassroots movement—an outpouring of compassion and determination that united people from across the UK and Europe. What started with a simple desire to help, without knowing exactly how, quickly grew into something extraordinary. Communities from Chester, Wirral, Liverpool, and North Wales came together, driven by a shared purpose. People gathered aid, organised events, we got registered charity status in 2016 and built networks that still endure today.

Our Peace Kitchen is the heart of everything, the heart of the UareUK Home and it is driven by wonderful women who themselves came to Wrexham to seek safety. Today they are cooking up wonderful things in more ways than one!

And so the story continues……
